The crusicruge replaced its ancestor in LadyM Polar Sea, where it has developed several defenses against predators such as the tubby nailfin. It has shrunk to half the size in order to make it harder for potential predators to avoid its tentacles. Its tentacles have now also gotten fatter and rounder due to a bitter cocktail of irritants being stored inside. The crusicruge will release these irritants when provoked. The crucicruge has also gained a thin coat of rough scales made of guanine as extra protection. This also makes it iridescent, advertising its inedibility.
