The hornface split from its ancestor, the blind hoofplent. It left Ferret Limestone Caverns and returned to the surface. Now high in the rockies it developed a stout body to help retain heat. Its eyes can see again, however with terrible vision. It has regain photosynthesis on its skin to help it gain energy quicker. Thus they are active during the day.
Their whiskers have now become 6 hard cellulose horns on its head. Males will fight over females by clashing horns. This can sometimes be fatal if they are too rough. The horns also work well as a defense against predators. Like their ancestors their use "butt-nostril" honking to communicate. This is important due to their poor vision. They live in social groups of 9 to 12 individuals and spend most of the day grazing on what little flora they can find.
