The koral gilltail split off from its ancestor the gilltail, and has come into the shallow coastlines of eastern Glicker. Here it was full of many kinds of red crystal flora in which it thrived on since no other species was eating them yet. Since the red crystal flora are in the surf line they must wait until high tide to eat, thus when the time comes they gorge themselves on food until low tide again, when they must make their escape.
Its success is its gills which allow it to absorb more oxygen then the other beakworms. This keeps it active longer and able to escape predators faster. They also were red in color which helped camouflage them around the red crystal flora. Koral gilltails lay their eggs in the sand which hides them more successful than just straight in the water. Even their stronger parrot-like beak has allowed them to bite off the hard outsides from crystal flora. They do not eat both the outsides and insides.
