The krupede split off from the krillpede in search of a safer place in the swamp. In order for it to adapt to its new home, its exoskeleton has become a rusty red color, which helps it blend in with the iron-rich sand. Some of the krupede's baleen in the back of its mouth have formed sharp teeth, so that it can tear away decaying plant and animal matter, another thing that helps it cut food to pieces is that its claws have been bigger and serrated. They have also become slightly bigger and have lost some of their legs. Other adaptations include better hearing, becoming slightly bigger, and they can dig. They usually make their homes in burrows underneath rocks and plants.
