Due to a mutation, some killcoats were born with 2 butt nostrils instead of 1, this in turn allowed better breathing in the higher, less dense atmosphere on the peak of Mae Peak. on which these 2 nostriled killcoats moved upwards to harsher conditions, soon enough evolution took over...
The first adaptation that took hold was that the leaping killcoat could jump better, its muscles inside its legs have become more powerful, allowing 3m long jumps across 2 rocks, as well as leaping 2 meters to get to higher ledges. Hairs around the nostrils, used to stop volcanic ash from the nearby volcanic region, grew longer and in larger numbers until it formed a large patch of fur, this is used to warm up the nostrils. Their legs developed a 3rd toe, used to help stop the leaping killcoat from falling over as prepares to leap upon its prey. Their head crest had developed spikes and has elongated, this helps them defend from predators and kill their prey easier. Leaping killcoats also developed a small hump used for storing food, some leaping killcoats have 2 humps in turn, this is a genetic mutation that exists in all leaping killcoats, so if the 2 hump leaping killcoat population was to die off then the 1 hump killcoats could in turn create 2 hump killcoats. The electric tongue has also improved, its appendages have elongated into a sort of 'whip', they also have improved intelligence, using basic coordination and strategy to kill their prey (similar to tigers and wolves on Earth). Mating has also changed a bit, unlike going and killed the biggest sauceback they could find and presenting the skull to a potential mate, they instead do dances, the larger the head crest and the spikes. the better the chance for a mate. Their skull has improved and has developed some canine like teeth, including 2 large canines designed to kill its prey. The fur on the leaping killcoats has become lighter to allow more heat and light to go to its skin, which has started to develop into a dark colour.
(The reason you see 1 nostril is because the picture is showing the side of a leaping killcoat. the other nostril is on the other side.)
