The odoplaque is a hybrid of the healing odo and marinovermes guttoplaque. When being regularly consumed by other creatures it was exposed to many kinds of guttoplaques and microplaques. It was only a matter of time until it was able to assimilate them. Once it did it completely replaced all guttoplagues and microplaques within the saltwaters and freshwaters of Sagan 4. It also spread to the cold seeps and vents.

In addition to replacing them it now gain the ability to consume salt when in saltwater. Like microplaques its can consume calcium, iron, cellulose or chitin from its hosts teeth. Unlike its ancestor it hurts its host more than helps it. It has retained all the odo abilities such as mimicking other cells and assimilating closely related microbes.
