The plentpecker evolved from the flying plent. This is smaller and better suited for picking at the food in the pleppo's wooden teeth. Their feet have developed a suction cup, so it can literally walk on the skin of the pleppo. Their wings can also fold back as well, so they can get into the tight spots. They work symbiotically with the pleppos. They get clean food and protection, while the pleppos get a good teeth cleaning.
