The podion evolved from the foliage worm in the Huggs Rainforest. It developed several adaptations which made it better at surviving in this habitat. It became much larger which, in combination with the development of longer legs, made it faster and more mobile. This gives it a small chance of escaping its major predator, the plenther. The vestigial feathers were replaced by two small sound-sensitive lobes which help it to detect the approach of a plenther.
