Ancestor:Descendants:

The sapskimmer split from its ancestor, the skyskimmer. It has left its life in the atmosphere to come down to the tropical rainforest. Like its ancestor it feeds of the "blood" of plents. But this has specified to suck the sap of immobile plents.

It uses its hydrogen air sac float around. Like its ancestor the jets that once spit out poison now reverted to its previous function which was to pass water in and out. But rather than water it passes air in and out to breathe.

Its 2 tiny eyes and 2 huge moth-like antennae. It can hear and see by feeling the air vibrations. Also has 2 clawed tentacles in which to latch on the side of the immobile plents. They use their sharp lower beak to pierce the bark of the immobile plent and then lap up the sap. However the sap is thick and can sometimes cover the whole creature thus trapping them within the sap.

The sapskimmer also has a rudder-like tail in which it can move from side to side to steer them in the air. They will flap their wings as well to help propel them through the air.
