The savanna orbipalm is a descendant of the mega orbitree that has colonized the savanna and scrub of Hydro. Physical differences included burgundy leaves, a shorter trunk and larger roots that some animals and plents use for shelter. Its leaves are also smaller in order to retain water but more numerous in order to absorb sunlight for energy. Its large roots help to retrieve as many minerals and water from the soil as it can. To limit competition they are usually found far apart from one another. The violet glowlickers have followed the orbitrees to the savanna as they became orbipalms and are now savanna glowlickers.
