Ancestor:Descendants:

The tumble scylarian split from its ancestor and moved to Cola Twilight Sea Mount, preying on the slither longtail. The limitations on this diet prompted a decrease in size. Its blue body and dappled fin provides camouflage in the lower light.

Individuals swim slowly in a rocking motion through the chitjorn reef, the rocking motion allowing a general view of the whole area. If movement is detected, then they swim upside-down and use the pair of back-eyes to more accurately scan the area; these eyes are more sensitive and are telescopically elevated from the body for this purpose. If prey has been confirmed, then the chase is on. If the longtail(s) are hiding under plateaucrustums, then the scylarian will try to ram through the barrier using its snout; the snout is made of thicker scales, and the gill openings are moved farther back for protection.

Individuals live for 20 years, reaching maturity in 15 years. Males have pheromone-sensitive pits on their horn for detecting presence of females. The mating process can be quite violent, especially for the females who bear many scars from these events. Young are born 3 months after fertilization, and take 6 years to grow to adult size. During this time they are in danger of predation by others of their kind, who view them as competition for food, and so live a life similar to the longtails, preying instead on the slower frabukgraze.
