The chumchum replaced its ancestor, the springneck. Due to the changing climate of the ice age it had to adapt from tropical adaptions to more polar adaptions. This included smaller ears and limbs, more body fat and 3 legged walking rather than hopping. Hopping just made it sink quicker into the snow or mud. It also doubled in size to help retain more heat. Its dark purple coloring both helps it heat up faster but also blend in with the purple flora it feed on. Its front nails and back foot have developed a strong and wide wooden hoof. It is very wide to help it stay n the top of snow or mud. It has been so successful with its polar adaptions that it also replaced its relatives the chum monofoot and soma monofoot.
