The darwidundi replaced its ancestor. It's fingers have strengthened into a set of stilt-like legs, allowing them to skitter across the hot sands without burning their skin. Usually these fingers are spread out into fan-pose to support their weight, however when threatened they will rise up on their nail tips to appear bigger.
They are dependent on their home pylent for food and shelter. A colony will cultivate groups of pylents, feeding them bits of rotting flora or carrion to help the pylents tranverse the desert. This symbiotic assistance had helped the pylents colonize the high deserts. Other than these changes it is the same as its ancestor.
