The digger urzong has split from its evolutionary ancestor and developed a symbiotic bond only rivaled in strength by that of the symbioship. The digger urzong evolved when a new niche came into being in a cavern devoid of water save for a single pool. It developed alongside its cousin the armored urzong to survive here. While the armored urzong ate the luminescent lithoamoeba the digger urzong fed on the luminescent lithoamoeba's competition. It feeds on all other lithovores in the caverns and is helped by the luminescent lithoamoebae. This works thanks to the regaining of their eyesight. Their eyesight allows them to find colonies of luminescent lithaomoebae and avoid them. This aversion to luminescent lithoamoebae is caused by the poison secreted by said lithaomoebae. Accidental ingestion can cause this small creature to die quickly. It is common to find many luminescent lithoamoebae on the claws and body of a digger urzong because of the trips through the pool.
