The land korystal split from its ancestor, the korystal. It has moved inland from the beach. Due to the devastation of the drought the niche was open for an immobile detritivore. It has not changed much physically, however it now produces airborne spores and can retain more water. However since it rains so much where it lives water is not much of a problem. Like its ancestor each crystal is made of hard transparent chitin which protects its red fungi-like insides. The chitin crystals have tiny holes which let out its spores. They use their fungus-like roots to absorb nutrients from the soil.
