The maecrystal split from its ancestor, the ghost crystal. It has regained the genes for orange photosynthesis which its distance ancestor, the gateway shrub, had. It grows in the pools of water of the sandstone cave filtering microbes and absobing any sunlight that manages to shine into the cave. It also has developed branches on its trunk to maximize the energy it absorbs from the food and the light it collects.
