Ancestor:Descendants:

The symbiotic enom split from its ancestor and spread to Ichthy Salt Lake and Bog. Due to a mutation, the tips of its stinging tentacles split in two, making them somewhat more effective in fending off predators. Before long, symbiotic lumins started attaching themselves to the enom, taking advantage of the protection the enom offered. The lumins pay for this service by transporting some of the sugars it produces by photosynthesis, through their roots, to their enom host, giving it an extra energy source.

A less fortunate development was that the lumins clogged the enom's pumping sacks, rendering them useless and eventually causing them to disappear completely. This caused some enoms to die, but the others adapted by optimizing the food and breath intake through the mouth. The energy from the lumins and the larger amount of oxygen in its new environments made up for the rest.
