The tipsnapper replaced its ancestor on Maineaic Island. It has given up the skimming lifestyle in favor of becoming a wading hunter; though it will still snatch prey while flying if its prey is too far out in the water. Its teeth are now located on the inside of the mouth, though its jaws have a rough edge to grab struggling prey.
It has stronger hip muscles to aid in hunting. It will stand still in water until prey swims by. It will then pivot its entire body about its legs to snatch at its next meal. Its feathers are black to blend in with the dark backdrop of the volcanic skies.
Individuals live for 5 years. Its breeding is the same as its ancestor.
