Splitting from the bigeyed foi, the nusy foi has adapted to live in lower pressured waters. It moved to the sunlight zones of both oceans. Because it can't feed on the organic material that falls to the bottom, since it can't take the bottom pressure anymore, the foi feeds mainly by staying near the surface of the water, where organic particles float. It also filter-feeds microbes for more energy. They have evolved a more effective way of movement; instead of moving only the lower outer membrane, they move their full bodies.
