Ancestor:Descendants:

The blue buckler evolved from its ancestor, the golden guardian, and replaced penitoflora aquanus. The blue buckler evolved to be able to survive the salty waters of the ocean, and soon spread with the currents throughout almost all the salt water of Sagan 4. It now 'infects' water creatures, attacking all the pathogens within them, much like all the colis do. Despite mostly existing within creatures, it does survive on the outside, though in lowered numbers. Creatures infected with blue buckler usually have a trail of blue bucklers as they swim through the water, causing schools of creatures to leave vast swaths of blue buckler-infested water behind them. Unfortunately, some predators may learn to follow this trail to the infected creature. This has caused the blue buckler to not be totally advantageous by being infected by it, though it could be argued that killing off sickness is more important.
