The frigooze split from it's ancestor and adapted to the frigid air on the mountain. They appear to be a pool of water to unsuspecting creatures that try to drink, but instead get ensnared in the sticky goo, making any attempt to crawl or fly away impossible. It uses the salts and antifreezes of it's prey to keep it from freezing completely during the colder months. Although during harsh weather they will allow a thin layer of ice a few mm thick to form on top to protect them, they get covered in snow, and when an unsuspecting creature walk on it they fall to their doom. They also colonized along the river banks, using the tiny amounts of salts in the silt to aid in their survival.
