The oddech split from their ancestor their ancestor. They migrated up to the river system, where found that the more favorable food sources just past the waters edge, so they adapted further to land. They feed on the crystal flora on land within a meter of the water, nibbling at the bottoms of the trunks. They have even begun to eat kruggs for extra energy, pulling them into the water to drowned. They are territorial, and will fight any rival by staring them down on land. Whichever leaves to moisturize first loses their bid.
To survive on land, their skin has become thicker and their gills are better adapt to retaining moisture, but they need to constantly wet themselves in order to survive. They are seen wallowing in mud puddles near the shore. Their intake valves are now segmented, allowing for a pocket of water to be retained to keep them moist. They can only leave for only a few moments due to their frames being unable to support their bodies for long. more then ten minutes out of the water and they suffocate. Their front fins are now muscular to pull them in and out of the water, while their back fins protect their gills from exposure to the elements. Despite these adaptations they remain mostly aquatic, spending in their ten years of life on the waters edge.
