Ancestor:Descendants:

The desert sauceback has replaced its ancestor in both Ittiz-Ovi Desert and Ittiz High Desert, and has moved to Ovi Dunes. To better adapt to the desert, its carapace is now made of a protein and fat-rich chitin. Over time, it grows its carapace larger and larger. When it has no food, it can cannibalize the chitin as food source. Females will choose the male sauceback with the biggest carapace. Since it no longer needs its tusks, they have grown smaller to allow it to eat without the tusks getting in the way. The scales on its back have grown larger and less numerous. Its coloration has changed to better match its surroundings.
