Small pockets of thorn sudi near the bottom of the river became isolated from the rest in small pools, causing genetic homogeneity. This caused problems in the gene pool, allowing for negative mutations to build up. To compensate, a mutation allowed for some of these to incorporate foreign genetic materiel into their genome. When one incorporated a large portion of their ancestor's DNA, they split into to the sudians. They use their long arms to grab hold of their prey and insert their proboscises, draining their prey of all their cytoplasm. They reproduce by undergoing mitosis, but if there is too much homozygosity in an area they incorporate new DNA before splitting.
