The gelbeast is the result of a mutation occurring within a group of trisoilbeasts that resulted in them coming together and forming a colony. As they slowly move about their habitat, blind to their surroundings save for their ability to sense vibrations, they engulf and digest all organic material that they can ensnare. Once a gelbeast reaches 40 cm in length, it will divide via mitosis into two smaller colonies 20 cm in length. They cannot swim and the bonds holding the colony together can be broken via extreme heat or large quantities of salt which drain them of their water, which they regain via their prey. They typically cannot devour things larger than themselves save for when they are immobile, dead, or extremely slow moving as they themselves cannot move very rapidly. Luckily, some flora had already developed various enzymes and such in order to perform their functions, and they soon doubled protect them from these slow moving horrors as they could not digest, saving the rainforest as a whole from being digested.

The gelbeast produces an extremely powerful and concentrated digestive enzymes, allowing them to digest all organic material they ingest. Though they can sense fauna on the ground through the vibrations they produce, creating pseudopods to ensnare them, flora on the other hand, as well as dead bodies, must come in contact with it for it to know where it is.
