The River Lyngbakr split from its ancestor, the Viridimaw Lyngbakr. It has left the ocean and now lives in the waterways of Maineiac. There it adapted to freshwater and reduced its huge size. While still a planktivore for its early life they eventually grow a taste for larger prey. Due to their huge size compared to all the other creatures in Maineiac it can eat most anything it wants.
They live in small pods of only 3 to 4 members. These pods are typically female only, with the only males being adolescents. Adult males are individuals who seek out the female-dominated pods in order to mate. Once they have, they are usually chased out, and thus they take no part in raising the young.
It is not uncommon for various types of encrusting lifeforms, such as several species of marbleflora, to grow along their sides. This actually helps them keep camouflaged.
