The speckled snark has split from its ancestor, the comet snark. A large solitary predator, its teeth have begun to shrink and its jaws have begun to slowly change to one that specializes in feeding on microscopic life, though it has yet to reach this stage in its evolution and still feeds on larger prey. Oviviparous, its young develop within the mother and hatch from their eggs shortly before being born. First born infants will feed upon all their siblings, leaving only 2-3 to be born. These individuals are the strongest and the largest and will thus have a better chance at surviving. These young tend to swim near the Twilight Floor and feed on the various species encountered there. Young individuals will typically swim around jagged pyamus, using them as territory markers, protecting them in the process of guarding their newfound territories.
